Emotional Independence is the virtue of Yesod on the Tree of Life. What does it mean to be emotionally independent?

Have you ever felt that you are living in a movie on continual play? ¬†Sometimes the movie is in black and white; everything is in slow motion and at a pace you feel you can cope with …. you are in control.

But then, all of a sudden, the pace quickens, and everything BLASTS into full colour, and far from being in control you find yourself once again carried along with the tide, on a roller-coaster ride that leaves you emotionally distraught.

And yet, despite telling yourself it’s ok, because you know where all the emotion is coming from, why is it you don’t seem able to free yourself from the cycle of events, and break habits of a lifetime?

Independence or Idleness?

If you really want to take control of your life then you need to avoid complacency – Emotional Idleness.

No-one knows it all.

Emotional Independence will only come when you cease kidding yourself that you have foreseen all the problems – and when you make a conscious effort to stop over-reacting every time something doesn’t go according to plan.
